In Memory of Agnes (Roleke) Scott
When death closes forever the doors of man's earthly life, God receives His children, one by one, into His presence, through the never-closed gates of the Heavenly city. Thitherward went the pure spirit of Agnes (Roleke) Scott, Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1943.
Agnes, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Roleke, was born in Bethany, Mo., Nov 12, 1898, and passed away at her home in Denver, Colo., Nov 3, 1943.
Her childhood was spent here. After graduation from the Bethany high school in 1916 she was employed in the post office for several years during the First World War when Mr. William S. Walker was postmaster.
On Jan 17, 1918, she was united in marriage to Robert Dee Scott of New Hampton, Mo., who was stationed at Ft. Sill, Okla., at that time; later serving overseas until the armistice was signed. Three children came to bless this home. Annetta, who died in infancy; Marjorie, now a member of the WAVES, stationed at Clinton, Okla., and Robert Carlyle of the merchant marine, somewhere in the south Pacific.
For 20 years they had lived in Greeley, Longmont and Denver, Colo. By her sunny disposition she made a host of friends wherever she was. She was a loyal home maker, and her home life was ideal; being loyal as a daughter, faithful as a sister, devoted as a wife and mother. She will be greatly missed, and none but God can fill that vacancy.
Gone from the church, from the community that honors her memory, and from the circle of her loved ones, she has gone to the land of fadeless bloom and entered upon a service that will never be limited by any suffering or weariness. May God bless all who mourn her departure.
Death at Denver Preceded Two Months Ago by Attack Believed Indigestion - Funeral Is at Bethany
A heart attack from an ailment dating from at least two months before, was unexpectedly fatal Wednesday forenoon at Denver, Colo., to Mrs. Agnes Scott, wife of Robert D. (Dee) Scott, for whom funeral services and burial were held here Sunday.
It was about two months before that Mrs. Scott awakened at night, ill of a depressing pain in the chest. A physician summoned after she recovered partially thought it was an attack of indigestion, but he suggested that Mrs. Scott drop in for an examination. Other activities prevented her from following her intention to comply with that suggestion.
Son Is on Sea
Mrs. Scott is survived also by a daughter, Marjorie, a member of the WAVES stationed at Clinton, Okla.; a son, Robert C. (Bud) Scott of the merchant marine, who is on his way to Australia and who has not been heard from for six weeks; her mother, Mrs. Herman Roleke of Bethany, a sister and a brother, Mrs. Harvey Burris and Joe B. Roleke, both of Denver.
Mr. Scott and his daughter left yesterday for Denver. She is on 13-day leave. Her release from the WAVES will be obtained if possible so that she can help maintain the home.
