OBIT: THE TEXARKANA GAZETTE DEC 30, 1956 - FORMER OFFICER SUCCUMBS SUDDENLY TO HEART ATTACK
Francis Milton Higginbotham, life-long resident of Miller County and a veteran law enforcement officer, died about 5:30 p.m. Saturday in a local hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was 47. Mr. Higginbotham was a former member of the Arkansas city police department and the Miller County sheriffs department. He was chief of guards at Red River Arsenal for six years and also served in the same capacity at Day and Zimmermann for several years. He was an investigator for the Arkansas State Revenue Department until about one year ago when he accepted a position with the 999 Service Station at 7th and State Line Ave. He was at the station Saturday when he became ill and was taken by an East Funeral Home ambulance to the hospital where he died shortly afterward. Mr. Higginbotham was a graduate of Arkansas High School and a member of the Fairview Methodist Church. He resided at 401 Bell Ave. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Higginbotham; a son, Gary Higginbotham; one brother, Earl Higginbotham, all of Texarkana; a nephew Rufus Earl Higginbotham of Stigler, Okla.; and one niece, Mrs. Charlie Starks, Jr., of Texarkana. The body will remain at the East Funeral Home pending the completion of funeral arrangements.
